Lending a Helping Hand: Mentorship Day at Microsoft

Software.org and AT&T classrooms visited Microsoft’s Innovation and Policy Center in DC for a mentorship day

On July 20, the Software.org and AT&T classrooms visited Microsoft’s Innovation and Policy Center in DC for a mentorship day. The day started with a panel of inspiring women in tech who shared their stories about how they took advantage of internships, leveraged their networks, and embraced the twist and turns in their careers. Then the girls broke out into a networking round robin, where they got to spend one-on-one time with potential mentors, from graphic designers to congressional staff. “If you don’t ask, you don’t get,” Susan Mann from Microsoft told our class. “And you should never be afraid to ask. Feel empowered to ask for advice or opportunities.”
