Guest Speaker: Senator Jacky Rosen

After the first full week of instruction, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) joined Software.org’s Girls Who Code class for a virtual meeting and Q&A with students. She described her background and experience as a computer programmer earlier in her career and how coding helped her develop invaluable creative thinking, logic, and problem solving skills that allowed her to succeed in her job as a Senator. Students learned more about what a typical day is like on Capitol Hill for a Senator and how computer science skills can be applied in jobs outside the traditional tech sector.
