Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program 2025 Applications Are Now Open!
February 07, 2025
Software.org: the BSA Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its 11th annual partnership with Girls Who Code for the 2025 Summer Immersion Program (SIP)—a dynamic, two-week experience designed to equip high school students with the technical skills, confidence, and mentorship needed to thrive in the tech industry.
Taking place in July 2025, this free program is open to US high school students (grades 9–11) and international students ages 14 to 18, providing them with hands-on coding instruction, exposure to real-world tech applications, and invaluable mentorship from industry leaders.
Bridging the Gender Gap in Technology
Despite rapid advancements in the tech sector, women—especially those from historically underrepresented backgrounds—continue to face significant barriers in entering and advancing in STEM fields. According to the National Science Foundation, women make up only 35% of the US STEM workforce, with even lower representation in fields such as computer science and engineering. Women of color are significantly underrepresented in STEM fields, with Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous women comprising less than 10% of the total STEM workforce.
As part of its commitment to closing the gender gap in tech, Software.org is investing in initiatives like SIP to ensure more young women have access to educational and career opportunities in computing.
What Participants Can Expect in the 2025 SIP:
By participating in SIP, students will develop technical and leadership skills, gain confidence in coding, and become part of a global movement to increase gender diversity in tech.
