Virtual Event: 5G Security – Understanding How Software Enables and Protects the Networks of the Future

Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 , 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. ET

In the consumer world, we’ve been bombarded for months with the promises of faster 5G networks. In the policy space, those promises are being met with increasing warnings about 5G security. So, how do we figure out the facts about 5G? And how do we begin to understand 5G technologies in the first place? The answer is in the software.

BSA | The Software Alliance and the BSA Foundation, along with host Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP, lead a discussion of how the transformation of previous generations of hardware-based communications cables, switches, and carriers into a fully cloud-backed and internet-based communications ecosystem will make networks both faster and more secure. Participants examine the legislative and regulatory landscape related to 5G development and deployment, including any potential impacts from the recent elections as we move forward.

Speakers: Jake Morabito, Program Coordinator, the BSA Foundation and Tommy Ross, Senior Director, Policy, BSA | The Software Alliance
